手元のストレージ環境でどのfile sync方式が最も効率が良いかを検証できるCLIツールpg_test_fsyncがPostgreSQLに同梱されているらしい。ほー知らなかった。過去バージョンを調べたところPostgreSQL9.5あたりで追加された模様。
